Bandung Photography Month
Bandung Photography Month (BPM) is an annual photography festival that has been held since 2013 and is managed by the Raws Syndicate Indonesia Foundation. BPM is a celebration that highlights the art of photography through a month-long festival format.
More than just an ordinary photography event, BPM has a broader goal, which is to represent the identity of Indonesian photography through the medium of the festival. With its presence, BPM is determined to maintain the existence of Indonesian photography in the realm of photography festivals in Asia. Considering that Bandung has a rich history in the development of photography in Indonesia, it is important to have a photography festival managed with the unique characteristics of the city of Bandung. BPM is not just about photography, but also brings out the essence of Bandung itself.
With a commitment to providing an extraordinary photography experience and presenting a unique embodiment of Bandung's identity, BPM becomes a professional and intelligent venue for promoting Indonesian photography and representing the beauty and charm of the city of Bandung.
Our Festival Goals
Bringing photography closer to the general public: By presenting photography as an art form to a larger audience, we hope to raise awareness and respect for it. We encourage individuals from all areas of life to experience the world of photography and learn about its cultural and historical significance via engaging exhibitions, interactive workshops, and community activities.
Decolonialism in photography and visual art: We address decolonialism in photography by exhibiting works that challenge colonial narratives and give voice to disadvantaged views. We aim to produce a more inclusive and equitable depiction of history and culture by highlighting artists from varied backgrounds, promoting a broader awareness of the intricacies of our shared past.
Young and emerging photographers are actively supported by us by providing them with opportunities to present their work, receive exposure, and develop their skills. We help emerging artists perfect their skill and build professional contacts through mentorship programs, workshops, and networking events, ensuring the discipline of photography has a bright future.
Honoring Indonesian senior and pioneer photographers: Our effort honors and celebrates the accomplishments of Indonesian senior and pioneer photographers. By recognizing and preserving their achievements, we hope to inspire future generations of artists and create a better awareness of the country's rich photographic heritage.
